Kazakhstan remains a regional leader in attracting foreign investment - Alikhan Smailov

01

In an interview with the 24KZ TV channel, Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov spoke about the work to attract foreign direct investment.

“Despite the current global challenges, Kazakhstan remains attractive to foreign investors. Our country is the leader in gross inflow of foreign direct investment in the Central Asian region. Last year it grew by 18% and reached $28 billion. This became a record for Kazakhstan over the past 10 years,” he said.

According to him, $13.3 billion was attracted into the country’s economy in the first half of the year. At the same time, about $27 billion is expected by the end of the year, which is also a fairly high figure.

“This was largely possible thanks to the filigree diplomacy of our President, who, in the face of complex geopolitical tensions, is consistently strengthening relations with a wide range of influential players. These are China, Europe, Russia, the USA, Turkey, the Arab world and others,” noted Alikhan Smailov.

In turn, the Government is taking the necessary measures to maintain the required level of investment activity. In particular, a nationwide pool of about 1 thousand projects worth over 32 trillion tenge has been formed.

“We are systematically implementing them,” the Prime Minister emphasized.

The Government also operates an Investment Headquarters, which was recently given special powers by order of the President. Now the decisions made are binding.

“The personal responsibility of managers at all levels in terms of attracting investments has been strengthened. Also, thanks to prosecutorial support of investment projects, bureaucratic barriers are minimized. All this allows us to manually ensure the prompt implementation of investment projects,” concluded Alikhan Smailov.
