In the 1/16 finals, Shevchenko met with the Czech Dalibor Svrcina (194th place) and defeated him in three sets - 6:4, 4:6, 6:4. Thus, Alexander reached the 1/8 finals, where he will play with the French tennis player Grégoire Barrere (104th place).
Let us add that for Alexander Shevchenko this was the second match under the flag of Kazakhstan: earlier, in a duet with Alexander Bublik, he achieved a confident victory in the 1/8 finals of the tournament in Montpellier in doubles, beating Americans Evan King and Reese Stalder - 6:4, 6: 3.
