Minister of Tourism and Sports Ermek Marzhikpayev held a reporting meeting with residents of Almaty.

The minister spoke about the current activities of the ministry, reforms in the field of tourism and sports, measures to combat gambling addiction and the department’s future plans.

In Almaty, this year the construction of 3 sports and recreation centers has been completed in the microdistricts of Alatau, Zerdeli and Zhas-Kanat. The development of design documentation for 4 sports and recreation centers in the microdistrict has also begun. Akzhar, Shugyla, Sayali and the Aviator stadium, an athletics arena for 5,000 seats in the microdistrict. Nurkent, modernization of the Central Stadium and the high-mountain sports complex "Medeu". In general, until 2025, it is planned to build 9 sports centers, 3 ice skating rinks, an athletics arena and a gymnastics arena. All these measures will allow increasing the sports area to 100 thousand square meters. m and cover up to 10 thousand people per day.

In accordance with the instructions of the Head of State, priority attention is paid to the development of the sports potential of the younger generation. In connection with this, the ministry continues to work on the implementation of the state sports order. In the city of Almaty, about 31 thousand children and adolescents are covered by free sports clubs. “Almaty is the homeland of many famous athletes who have glorified the country at world competitions. Prominent representatives of which are Bakhyt Sarsekbaev, Alexander Parygin, Bakhtiyar Ibraev, Olga Shishigina, Denis Ten, Dmitry Balandin, Zhansaya Abdumalik and athletes of the futsal club “Kairat”. In general, the athletes of the city of Almaty have enormous potential. Currently, there are 1,200 Almaty residents in the national team, which makes up the majority of the main team. Over the years of independence, Almaty has trained 56 athletes for the Olympic Games.

In addition, this year at the Summer Spartakiad of the Republic, the city of Almaty took 1st place in the team event. The team had 84 gold, 71 silver, 74 bronze. At the Asian Games in China, students from your region won 1 gold, 3 silver and 9 bronze awards,” said Ermek Marzhikpayev.
