OIC.Hussein Taha signed an agreement to support projects in Afghanistan

Jeddah: Organization of Islamic Cooperation Secretary General Hussein Ibrahim Taha attended the signing ceremony of the second series of projects of the Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund, witnessed by Dr. Muhammad Al-Jasser, Chairman of the Islamic Development Bank Group, at the group's headquarters in Jeddah on December 27, 2023 .

In his opening speech at the ceremony, Dr. Mohammed Al-Jasser thanked the Organization of Islamic Cooperation for its role in mobilizing support for the Afghanistan Humanitarian Trust Fund.

Speeches were made by OIC Secretary General Hussein Ibrahim Taha, Assistant Secretary General for Humanitarian, Cultural and Social Affairs, and His Excellency the Secretary General's Special Envoy to Afghanistan, Ambassador Tariq Ali Bakhit, where he noted in his speech that agreements between the Islamic Development Bank and many parties are responsible for the implementation of projects. The agreed agreements include humanitarian emergency assistance and development, and they embody the spirit of solidarity and the collective desire of actors in the humanitarian system, regionally and regionally, internationally, to alleviate the suffering of the Afghan people.

The Secretary-General expressed his deep appreciation and sincere gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, and his faithful Crown Prince, Prime Minister His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman, for the consistent humanitarian support provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Afghanistan.

The Secretary-General also thanked the Chairman of the Islamic Development Bank Group as well as the King Salman Relief Center for the outstanding role they play in the implementation of emergency relief projects in coordination with the organization in Kabul, Afghanistan.

In his speech delivered at the ceremony, OIC Secretary General Hussein Ibrahim Taha emphasized that today's meeting took place when everyone agreed to provide emergency and humanitarian support to the Afghan people, stressing that this will effectively contribute to mitigating the effects of the economic crisis and subsequent natural disasters that have caused a blow to the weak sections of Afghan society in many countries, to Afghan cities, villages and provinces.

After the participants completed their remarks, the parties involved signed the second series of agreements for the Humanitarian Trust Fund for Afghanistan as part of a package of humanitarian and development projects.
